Even as I listen to the budget presentations, I'm trying to update all my social media through ping.fm.

Cutting the Budget!

I'm one of about 40 people signed up to help the Superintendent of Topeka Public Schools, Dr. Kevin Singer, figure out how to cut $5,000,000 from the district's budget.

There are principals, teachers, staff, parents, clergy, students and business people here. It is an eclectic group of stakeholders.

We have a workbook that outlines what all the general fund programs are in the district and some possibilities of cuts. Each area of the schools makes a ten minute presentation about their program.

We will eventually go online to choose what we'd drop and what we'd keep.

It is a tremendous program for getting feedback.
